Major international challenge for green solutions in the chemical and energy sectors
In collaboration with its partners in the north of the Netherlands, Economic Board Groningen is organising an international pitch event for innovative scale-ups in the green chemical, recycling and green energy sectors: the Sustainable Industry Challenge – Chemport Europe edition. The goal is to find concrete solutions in the green chemical and energy sectors.
As the challenge owner, Suiker Unie will be seeking innovative scale-ups in collaboration with four other industrial companies in the region – Teijin Aramid, ENGIE, ESD-SIC and BioMCN. Suiker Unie is taking part in a challenge in the green chemicals category. It will be challenging scale-ups from the Netherlands and abroad to devise innovative solutions that meet the opportunities and challenges in the market. Its slogan is: work with Suiker Unie to valorise sucrose from sugar beet into bio-polymers to produce sustainable plastics.
The grand final will take place during the New Year’s reception of Groningen Seaports in Delfzijl on 8 January 2020. National and international scale-ups will compete against each other in an exciting play-off. The winner and the challenge owner will together receive €100,000 to invest in a project to pilot their proposed solution in the region. The shared ambition of the parties in this ecosystem is to accelerate the green economy and to put green chemicals on the regional and global map.
